Do not feel guilty if you haven’t been constantly mindful of your blessings. Instead, know that you appreciate them … it’s a given. We are surrounded by messages about thankfulness and gratitude at this time of year, but don’t you already get that? You appreciate your life. You appreciate your family, your health, your home, and so on. You know that there are people who have things tougher than you regardless of what you may be experiencing and you are grateful for the joys and simple blessings that you have.
Practicing gratitude in a meaningful way is not only about remembering what good you have … it’s more about feeling the goodness. There is a certain buzz you get when you feel good. It’s like that feeling when a star-crossed couple finally gets together at the end of a movie, or the chills you get from a really great Hallmark commercial. For some, it’s even that jazzed excitement that comes when the Jets run a touchdown. Whatever brings that feeling is worth pursuing. That feeling is love. And earnestly submersing yourself in being grateful can bring you to that place. Being thankful from the mind does not emit the same powerful energy that being thankful from your whole being emits. Assume you are happy about the good circumstances of your life and seek ways to get that deep moving feeling that comes from inner joy. Let waves of contentment wash over you like a twilight blanket covers the earth each night.
This holiday, share feelings of wonder, excitement, pleasure, and delight with others. Point out happy things. Be the one who changes the subject when others get whiney. Find a brighter perspective when someone is complaining. Stop a pity-fest by infusing a touching story. Be the one who people want to be around. Optimism and joy are contagious and can obliterate negativity. Seek the finest in your family, friends, and loved ones. If they are negative, assume their best self is just waiting to be released. Help them to unleash their best. Be complimentary; be kind; be genuinely interested in their lives; find their strengths and point out their uniqueness. Feel great about their originality and their essence.
If what you experience outside you is not all it can be … change. Change you first. Be inside what you want to experience outside. Real, accessible, limitless joy and gratitude come from within. Honor yourself, value your life, love being human, and all else good will follow.
This holiday, seek moments when your inner joy is elicited. And that joy will tumble out all over, repainting the canvas of life with enhanced vibrancy.

“I just wanted you to know that I am still reeling from the session. It was sooo very powerful, loving and wonderful. I felt so comfortable with you and when you were speaking I could feel the love coming through. It’s difficult putting the experience into words, so thank you, thank you, thank you! I have had many reading and this was by far the clearest and most helpful to me. You have such a positive message that really needs to be heard at this time on EARTH. Anxiously anticipating our next session!!!”
